RYAN + BRIANNA | ALASKA WEDDING AT ST. THERESE AND ALDERSHEIM | DESTINATION WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER

June 25, 2022

Ryan + Brianna’s Wedding at St. Therese and Aldersheim in Juneau, Alaska this weekend was one I won’t soon forget. This weekend was a wedding I had been looking forward to for all year. Seriously. When Brianna messaged me and told me about all their wedding plans, I was hooked. From the ceremony venue in the most beautiful and historic Catholic Church, the Helicopter grand entrance, to the amazing secluded outdoor wedding surround by the ocean in Aldersheim.

Ryan & Bri met when Bri came to Juneau on a trip with a group of friends. Ryan asked for her number and they talked everyday after that. Ryan immediately sent flowers to Bri’s work multiple times, and that is when she knew he was someone special. They planned multiple trips to meet in cities between Alaska and California and attended weddings together in both states. Eventually, Ryan was able to convince Bri to take a chance on Alaska and she moved there. 2 years and countless Alaskan adventures later, Ryan took Bri to dinner followed by a late night trip to the glacier to propose!

Music inspired by Brianna + Ryan’s Wedding Day

The day Ryan popped the question on December 19th, 2020, they went on a dinner date downtown followed by and an adventure out to the glacier to “let the dogs run.” Ryan got down on one knee out there, just us two, not a soul in sight! Bri shed some happy tears of this new journey they were embarking on together.

Bri + Ryan define fun-loving, adventurous, outdoorsy couples in love and this is everything I hope for when I film couples. I wish for laughter, and joy, engagement sessions outdoors, and down-to-earth brides with big hearts for the people in their lives. Despite getting married on one of the hottest days in Juneau, they were troopers and enjoyed every moment spent together with their friends and family!

We were outstandingly lucky to have a beautiful winter engagement session at Skaters Cabin in Juneau, Alaska with their dogs and their wedding day was even more perfect!

The day started in the cabins on the St. Therese property where hair and make-up was done, the guys hung out, and the girls had a champagne in their matching robes. Bri was surrounded with so much love from her girls and her mother.

After finishing her hair and makeup, she got her dress on and everyone cheered when she came out. She was jaw-dropping and she was just glowing. She has an unbelievable heart for serving and loving others and I find myself always forward to hearing from her. This became so apparent when she was surrounded by her bridesmaids as they all were just so excited to be a part of the day.

Then comes the groomsmen. Now, we didn’t get to see them much during the getting ready portion, but right before the first look, they were all gathered around sitting in lawn chairs on the grass. Laughing, joking around and enjoying some drinks out of their flasks together. They were a fund rowdy bunch :).

The ceremony overlooked the Gastineau Channel and their earthy, yet elegant and personal touches left so many people in awe. They read their own vows during their first look and had full catholic wedding in one of the most beautiful Catholic Churches I’ve stepped in. The weather was a perfect 73 degrees but it felt like 90 degrees out! We were all sweating and hiding for shade. For Alaskan’s, we definitely appreciated and enjoyed the hot weather, but it’s a lot of us because we’re not used to that kind of heat lol, even Bri’s family from California and all over the lower 48 was surprised!

After the ceremony we took family and wedding party photos and then it was time for the bride and groom hop on the helicopter and make their grand entrance while we all made our way to Aldersheim for their grand entrance!! Bri’s coworker had gifted them this amazing ride, last minute and I mean seriously, how cool is that?!!? Bri sent me videos of them screaming with joy and wonder as they flew over Juneau beautiful mountains and ocean. They both love to go on adventure so this was absolutely perfect. After the Helicopter (provided by Temsco) zoomed by while everyone cheered as they made their landing. Everyone made their way to the dance floor where Bri and Ryan had their first dance as husband and wife. After mingling for a bit, we wrapped up with some portraits on the Aldersheim property where we got an AMAZING Drone shot of them walking on the pier. Then we got the party started!! The dance floor was bumping all night and the night ended with lighting up the sky with fireworks :).
