KATLEIAH + SKYLER | SEATTLE, WASHINGTON | DESTINATION WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER

As a wedding videographer who specializes in adventure elopements, I have seen a lot of unique love stories, but Katleiah and Skyler’s is one for the books. The couple met while working in a physics lab at the University of Washington. Skyler had been working there for a year when Katleiah joined as his replacement. They agreed to meet in the lobby of the physics building, and when they laid eyes on each other, they both thought, “No way that could be them, I’m looking for a physics nerd.” But as it turns out, they were both the nerds they were looking for.

Skyler and Katleiah hit it off right away, and after several hours of talking about research and early 2000s emo rock, they found out that they lived less than a block away from each other. Their first “date” was a coding session that turned into a shared passion for music and a late-night conversation. They started dating in 2013 and loved to spend their time playing video games, cooking, and just enjoying each other’s company.

Fast forward to May 2019 when Skyler proposed in a surprise move. Katleiah thought she was going to help her friend with her wedding shower, but she ended up getting her nails done, picking up some balloons and champagne, and taking a walk in the park. As they walked, one of Skyler’s best friends, who happened to be a photographer, was there to capture the moment when Skyler got down on one knee and asked Katleiah to marry him. She said yes, and they hugged before turning around to see their friends and family walking towards them. They celebrated with a nice lunch, and then Katleiah’s sister had arranged for them to spend the night in a hotel with a fantastic view of the water. It was truly one of the best days of their lives.

When it came to planning their wedding, Katleiah and Skyler knew they wanted to incorporate their love of the outdoors and their shared sense of adventure. They decided to have their wedding at Ray’s Boathouse in Seattle, Washington, where they could take advantage of the stunning views of Puget Sound. They exchanged their vows on the docks of Ray’s Boathouse with their friend, Abby as their officiant, surrounded by friends and family from near and far. After the ceremony, they enjoyed a private moment together before joining everyone in the restaurant, which was perfect because they planned their day with so much intentionality to enjoy every moment with those closest to them. Their best Man and Maid of Honor shared beautiful memories and wishes for them. Then they danced the night away! While everyone was dancing, Katleiah and Skyler snuck away to enjoy some Dick’s burgers, instead of a traditional cake! I’m all about it!

As their wedding videographer, it was an honor to capture all of the beautiful moments of their special day. From their heartfelt vows to their stunning views, it was clear that Katleiah and Skyler’s love for each other knows no bounds. I’m so grateful to have been a part of their love story and to have captured their wedding day so they can relive it over and over again.
